one year after i had done the fortunate isle trailer with julian and gabor, julian and i began discussing doing another trailer to promote his next book, the very haunted jojo bros, which he was making with animarc creative development.

   i knew i wanted to step up my technique and process to make sure the trailer really leaves an impression. the experimental cartoony style allowed me some free reign to try some more bonkers idiosyncratic techniques, such as using photographs or videos as background textures, or playing with hand-drawn animated backgrounds, or having a camera track through a scene as though it is in 3d space. each scene was a fun opportunity to push my understanding of animation.

   the kickstarter was successful, and the book just finished its printing. im looking forward to reading it myself!
